Frey Family Emergency Department
Envisioning health care differently
One in five U.S. adults experience mental illness each year (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Every year Mather Hospital’s Emergency Department treats more than 3,000 patients who are suffering from mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
As a major provider of mental health services in Suffolk County, Mather Hospital subscribes that those struggling with a mental health diagnosis should be cared for with respect, compassion and understanding. That’s why we are creating a treatment area in our new Emergency Department that provides supportive, seamless, and effective care that is respectful of and works with patients with mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
